Wyoming’s future depends on today’s students, and those students depend on the educators who are supporting and inspiring them every day. Ignite Wyoming’s mission is to showcase the incredible work you’re doing to residents, businesses and legislators, but we need your help to spread that message. Shoot videos of your classrooms and schools with your cell phone, then we’ll use that footage in professionally edited features that will be shared online and on television. Below, you’ll find a list of filming ideas (although we want anything you think is worth capturing), tips, as well as step-by-step instructions for uploading your footage. When you’re finished, email videos@ignitewyo.org with your name, position, school and hometown. Thanks for your help and everything you’re doing for our state. Because of educators like you, Wyoming’s future is in good hands.
Please verify your district’s privacy policy prior to filming. Here is a student privacy release, if your district requires it.

Universal Filming Tips:

1)
remember to hold the phone horizontally (sideways), with the screen facing you.

2)
try to keep each video duration as short as possible to catch the action, 5-35 seconds. we will edit the videos together to tell a story.

3)
make sure the faces of your subjects are bright enough to see. avoid overly bright or dark scenes.

4)
try to follow the rule of thirds. keeping your subject either in the middle of the frame or on a 'third' makes for great compositions.

5)
smooth camera movements from subject to subject can tell a story. however, bounce around too much and we may get sea sick

6)
the final edited piece will have music and voice over. capture actions rather than people talking to the camera.
