Taycie: Learning by Doing in Veterinary Medicine

Taycie, a junior at Green River High School, is taking steps toward her future career through a work-study program at Castle Rock Veterinary Center. While earning her Veterinary Assistant certificate, she’s gaining real-world experience that gives her a deeper understanding of what it takes to care for animals and run a veterinary practice.

This hands-on opportunity is helping Taycie explore her passion for veterinary medicine and confirm her dream of one day owning her own clinic. She values the chance to earn graduation credits while preparing for a career she’s excited about, and she’s grateful that Green River High School gives her the choice to start working toward a future she loves.

Taycie hopes more schools across Wyoming will offer similar programs to help students connect their education with their future goals. She encourages other students to seek out local businesses, ask questions, and step into new experiences… they might just find their future along the way!

Ivy: Helping Others, One Experience at a Time

At Powell High School, Ivy is discovering more than just a future career, she’s discovering her passion. Through the Health Care Work Experience class, she spends part of her school day gaining real-world insight at First Choice Imaging in Powell. The hands-on nature of the class has opened her eyes to the realities of working in health care, giving her a clear picture of what it means to support patients and be part of a care team.

With Wyoming’s ongoing need for dedicated medical professionals, Ivy is grateful she can explore this career path while still in high school. For her, it’s not just about learning technical skills, it’s about connection. This opportunity has shown her just how impactful that can be, and as she prepares for life after high school, Ivy is already making a difference, one patient at a time.

Kallie: Bridging Cultures Through Language

Kallie, a junior at Natrona County High School, is part of the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, a unique opportunity that allows students to learn a second language from kindergarten through high school. She’s grateful that her school offers this program, giving her the chance to grow both academically and personally in ways she never imagined. Through DLI, she’s built relationships she may never have formed otherwise and discovered how language reflects the way people see the world.

One of Kallie’s biggest supporters is her teacher, Erendira Garcia. To Mrs. Garcia, the DLI program is not just a profession, it’s her passion. She believes deeply in the power of language learning to build compassion and understanding among students, creating a ripple effect of empathy and cultural awareness in the world.

Together, students like Kallie and teachers like Mrs. Garcia are showing how language can be a bridge not just between words, but between people, perspectives, and possibilities.
